F*CK the SEO

F*CK the SEO

My website was live since 2011, have invested amount of time to make it useful and great, including its positioning in the search engines - especially in Google. I was proud of the work done, however never achieved page rank higher than 5.

One day, on Wed 25, 2025, I have got the message from the Google search console

email contents

(text is in Russian) saying that my website is fake and deceptive, it uses phishing and social engineering to steal personal and financial data. Going to the Google search console did not help much

error from search console

but email contained some detail at the bottom

identification in email

which actually says that my website steals data at its main page. Surprise!

The issue appeared to be even worse -

So what: my website is completely self-developed in HTML assembly language, except several plugins (1) facebook like button, (2) Google tag manager (GTM), (3) Disqus discussion facility and (4) page rank gif. What was the cause is a mystery, or it was that just someone submitted the site into the block list.

Conclusion: SEO may be complete loss of time in terms of its persistence and sustainability, as it was reset by the party out of my control. At the same time, it was very valuable experience in overall getting understanding of how search things work. The job is actually done - those who should have found me through search engines have found me (or better to say - we found each other), and now is the time to stop worrying about what search engines think about me.

My decision: remove all external sources - kill like button, GTM, delete Disqus, and remove pic for page rank. They all have no sense now. Just keep the website right if some search engine will want to index it. Another decision is to have several copies of the website - leaving it at gr8bit.ru, putting it into agelabs.pro, and into free website provided by my current hoster, cy85040.tw1.ru. All the pages are https, except /software/ section, which still has option to be accessed insecurely with GR8NET.

Lessons learnt

Optimize for people first, and then for SEO.

Know your risks if you do not have control or influence on what is being invested to.
